Scott Russell
Owner / CrossFit Coach
I love having a job that can have such a positive impact on other people’s lives. Helping people achieve their health and fitness goals no matter how big or small is the most rewarding and satisfying thing I think you can do.
I believe in starting with the basics and practicing safe movement to ensure training is sustainable long term. Consistency is key, it creates the routine which puts you on the path to achieving your goals regardless of what these are.

Tori Fairbrass
Manager / CrossFit Coach
With over five years of coaching experience, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the energy, connection, and growth that CrossFit brings to people’s lives. I love seeing athletes step outside their comfort zones, surprise themselves, and experience that spark when they realise what they can achieve.
After coaching in a variety of gyms over the years, I’m proud to bring that experience and passion to Tasman Bay CrossFit. This community has been my most exciting and fulfilling challenge yet. Every day, I’m committed to helping our athletes move better, lift stronger, and chase down the best version of themselves.
Qualifications: CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Exercise & Personal Training, Resus First Aid.

Janie Pei
Bootcamp and CrossFit Coach
My own health and fitness journey led me to CrossFit in 2021, and I quickly fell in love with how CrossFit helped me focus on what my body is capable of, rather than simply how it looked.
For me, coaching is about creating an environment where people feel supported to challenge themselves, build confidence and perseverance, and celebrate what they're capable of achieving.
Outside the gym, you'll usually find me chasing my next adventure, embracing new challenges, or spending time with friends. I believe life is best lived with curiosity, a willingness to step outside your comfort zone, and the courage to keep showing up.
I'm excited to be part of your journey. If I can help you walk out of the gym feeling stronger, more confident, and just a little prouder of yourself than when you walked in, I've achieved what I set out to
Qualifications: Level 1 CrossFit Trainer, New Zealand Certificate in Exercise Level 4 & Level 5 , St John First Aid

Lou Richards
CrossFit Coach
I joined the team from Dunedin where I studied Anatomy and then Physiotherapy. I have always had an interest in coaching; often combining this passion with my competitive interest at the time which has lead me to coach netball, athletics and for the last 6 years, CrossFit.I discovered CrossFit while I was at university when I saw the Games athletes take on 'Double Grace', although I didn't pluck up the courage to try a class until 2018. Since then I haven't looked back (unless it's a long cardio day and then I question my life decisions) and have gone on to compete at national levels in both CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting.
Qualifications: CrossFit Level 1, Otago University Bachelor of Physiotherapy 2022, Red Cross First Aid.

Nick Max
Crossfit Coach
After 10+ years of traditional resistance training, I felt I needed a different challenge. I’ve always loved coaching and helping individuals grow so when the opportunity came up to join the team at Tasman Bay, I knew it was something that I wanted to do both for myself and to help others.Along side raising my 3 beautiful young boys, playing both senior and premier level Rugby in NZ and coaching Stoke’s Division 2 Rugby team. I understand how important it is to prioritise your own health and wellbeing.
“If it was easy, everyone would do it.” The pain and struggle we experience within the gym isn’t a sign of defeat. It is growth and every single time we show up to put our body through that struggle is a sign that we are that much better than we were yesterday.
Qualifications: NZ First Aid Level 1, NZ First Aid Level 2

Christian Stolten
CrossFit Coach
I first discovered CrossFit as a teen and loved the challenge it brought. Like many people, life took me in a different direction for a while, but when I found my way back into the gym, I quickly remembered why I enjoyed it so much. It wasn't long before I decided I wanted to take the next step and become a coach.
Working as a tradie means I'm no stranger to hard physical work, so I know how important it is to move well, build strength, and look after your body for the long haul. Whether you're stepping into the gym for the first time or chasing a new personal best, I'm passionate about helping you build confidence, improve your movement, and enjoy the process along the way.

Taryn D'Arcy
Crossfit Kids Coach
I have been working in the fitness industry for the past 8 years and my passion for helping others is only continuing to grow stronger and stronger. Throughout these years, I have found working with children particularly rewarding. I enjoy building the fundamentals of exercise such as balance and coordination from a young age as it gives children a great baseline to continue to build on for their chosen sports later in life.
Not only has group exercise had a hugely positive impact on my life, having experience working one on one as a personal trainer has really allowed me to enjoy the process of building meaningful relationships along the way too. Starting my own business back in 2022 has been one of the best decisions I have made to continue to build these relationships and have the opportunity to work with other businesses alike.
Qualifications: New Zealand Certificate in Exercise (Level 3), New Zealand Certificate in Exercise (Level 4), Resus First Aid

Jenny Gray
CrossFit Kids Coach
As a mum of two boys who have both trained in CrossFit since their early teens and gone on to compete at a high level, I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact the sport can have on young people. Alongside coaching, I also work with children every day, giving me a strong understanding of how to create a supportive, encouraging environment where kids and teens can thrive.
I’ve been doing CrossFit myself for over six years and have coached both adult and kids classes on and off for 3 of those years.
Qualifications: Completed CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification, currently working towards a formal coaching qualification to continue to expand my knowledge.

My passion for health and fitness led me to CrossFit as a young athlete at the age of 14. l started CrossFit to supplement my strength and fitness for my other competitive sports, then I fell in love with it! I now compete at the highest level of age group CrossFit as a Teen CrossFit Games Athlete!
Although I am new to coaching the sport of CrossFit, my years of experience practicing the sport gives me a wide knowledge base to share with others. Through my own CrossFit journey, I have experienced being a complete newbie, to a top-level competitor and everything in between! This has helped me develop a meaningful appreciation for the benefits CrossFit can provide to people in all aspects of health, fitness, and wellbeing.
